New Laser Treatment for Fungus Toe Nail

Do your toenails appear yellow, brittle or thickened?  Then perhaps you suffer from onychomycosis, a condition also known as toenail fungus.  Toenail fungus can be caused by heavy foot perspiration, poor shoe or sock ventilation, or walking barefoot in damp areas such as a gym or locker room.  Until now, the only solutions for toenail fungus were to surgically remove the nail,  apply topical preparations, or take oral prescription medications, which may have potentially dangerous side effects.

Today, Lasers are the latest treatment for toenail fungus.  Laser treatment can effectively rid your toenails of unsightly toenail fungus in two or three treatment sessions, depending on the severity of the condition.  The invisible infrared Laser wavelength penetrates the nail and destroys an important part of the fungus cellular structure, which effectively inhibits the fungus growth and infection of the nail.

What to expect on treatment day…  Your toenails should be very clean and free of nail polish prior to the Laser treatment.  Your doctor may decide to mechanically file the nail to reduce thickness.  As each toe is treated with the Laser you will feel a mild, warming sensation.  The Laser treatment will take about 15 minutes to treat both feet and there is usually no discomfort after the procedure.  The physician will discuss post-treatment care to avoid fungal re-infection and normal nail growth.  You will notice results within 3-6 months, depending on how quickly your toenails grow.  New, clear growth begins to appear at the bottom portion of your nail as the diseased portion of the nail grows out.  You may return to your normal daily routine immediately after your Laser toenail treatment.

What about payment for Laser treatments?  Our K-Laser technology has been in use for over 10 years and is FDA approved for pain management, physical therapy, and skin treatment.  Much research has proven the effectiveness of the Laser for fungus toenails and many physicians across the country have had success in treating the fungus infection of toenails on thousands of patients with Laser methods.  Recently, the K-Laser has been found to be an effective treatment method for fungus toenails but has not received full FDA approval at this time.  Therefore, the Laser treatment of fungus toenails is not covered by your health insurance plan.

Our treatment protocolinvolves performing the Laser treatment on all toenails three times over a period of two to three weeks.  Each treatment session will take approximately 15 minutes and will allow for a quick return to your daily activities.  Our professional fee package includes all three treatments and can be discussed during your initial consultation visit.  If lifestyle changes are not made and/or the infection begins to recur, follow-up treatments can be performed as needed at reduced cost.  To help prevent recurrence we will suggest our recommended anti-fungal powders, topical preparations, shoes inserts, and other items to combat a re-infection of the toenail fungus.

Why choose the Laser treatment to treat your toenail fungus?  Our Laser is a safe and effective treatment alternative to prescription medication and topical preparations.  It is a quick in-office procedure and is virtually painless with no downtime from your regular activities.  The Laser method is fast becoming the procedure of choice for toenail fungus.
